Hublot Climbs To The Peak Of The World: Hublot Swiss Zermatt Store Opens, Launches Big Bang Zermatt Limited Watch

On July 20, 2015, HUBLOT celebrated this memorable milestone by setting up its 80th store worldwide at 27 Bahnhofstrasse, Zermatt, Switzerland at an altitude of 1,608 meters. Hublot launches two Big Bang limited edition watches to highlight the beauty of this small town in the highest mountains of Switzerland, and puts Matterhorn’s extraordinary significance to humanity in the watch.
The small town of Zermatt holds a decisive position because of its world-renowned peaks. This year is exactly the 150th anniversary of the first human climb to the summit of Matterhorn. Brand stores are even more significant.

The traditional building is presented in a modern design with counters and display spaces made of wood and glass. The design is inspired by the wood grain walls of the barn with exposed beam-and-column downlights, adding a homely feel. Walls are covered with Swiss paper-cut art decorated with metal frames, while totems depicting the history of nomadic migration are displayed in window and balcony. HUBLOT believes that while integrating the spirit of the brand, it is also important to emphasize local traditional culture.
‘We stand here, respect its history, its characteristics and origin, make it so special, and build a log house-style store at the foot of the Matterhorn, symbolizing Hublot’s climb to the top of the world.’ ~ Ricardo Guadalupe

HUBLOT celebrates this important moment with the launch of two Big Bang Zermatt watches. Tungsten or satin-finished rose gold case with ceramic bezel, gray radial satin-polished dial, and the small second dial at 9 o’clock has the outline of Matterhorn. The transparent caseback clearly shows the operation of the HUB4100 automatic chronograph movement, the strap is made of brown calfskin and stitched with beige stitching, and two Big Bang Zermatt watches are limited to 150 pieces worldwide. The most special is that in the two sapphire mirrors of the transparent bottom cover, a 3 cm long rope is set, which is like sealing eternal time.
Hublot’s Zermatt store is tied with the French Courchevel store and the Swiss Gstaad store as the highest altitude HUBLOT stores.

Various stories and legends are spread in Zermatt. It is rumored that a rope was found at the northeast peak of Matterhorn at 4,320 meters above sea level. It is said that the inner rope is only wrapped with nylon rope and has soul. Therefore, HUBLOT hides the spirit of Matterhorn in the Big Bang Zermatt watch, faintly shining. HUBLOT watches step by step based on traditional clothing, local music, special dishes, rich cheeses and a sense of humor.
